The club is proud of its youth program which has grown significantly in recent years. We provide an athletic environment -- both competitive and fun -- for Grades 1 to12.  We instruct activities in track & field and cross-country.  We develop good sportsmanship; knowledge of the rules; and respect for oneself, other athletes, parents, and coaches.

AATC Youth Practice Calendar

  • Remaining Mon, Wed & Thurs practices from 7-8:30 pm:
    March: 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 11

  • Final practice on March 11. Season ends with MIYS State Championship meet on Sunday, March 14, 2010

    * MITS (Michigan Indoor Track Series -- for athletes in grades 6-12)
    ** MIYS (Michigan Indoor Youth Series -- for athletes ages 14-under)
    *** The AAU Northern Indoor Championship is considered an alternate meet for those athletes who can't make the Great Lakes Indoor Championship the week  before. Since Bloomington, IL is a 5-6 hour drive, while Geneva, OH is only a 3-hour drive (from Ann  Arbor), we decided to make the Great Lakes meet the primary/preferred meet.

MITS State Champion Qualifiers

The following athletes qualified for the MITS School State Championship meet, which will be held next Saturday at EMU:

  • Emily Anderson qualified for the 400 dash. The qualifying standard for girls is 1:03.80, and Emily ran a 1:03.74 at the UM MITS meet back on 2/5.
  • Grace Gardner qualified for the 60 dash. The qualifying standard for girls is 8.60, and Grace ran a 8.48 at the UM MITS meet this past Thursday 2/18.
  • Kenny Cooper qualified for the 1600 run. The qualifying standard for boys is 4:42.0, and Kenny ran a 4:38.3 at the GVSU MITS meet

AAU Northern Indoor Championship, Bloomington, IL, Sat-Sun, 2/20-21, 2010 Results

  • Alexa Spaanstra won the Bantam Girls 800 run, with a time of 2:32.76 -- that is a new National record! Alexa also won the 400 dash, with a time of 1:06.51 and won the 200 dash, with a time of 29.47.That makes it two (2) "hat tricks" weekends in a row for Alexa!
  • Dylan Harris won the Sub-Bantam Boys long-jump, with a jump of 12' 11". Dylan also won the 400 dash, with a time of 1:10.86. Dylan also took 2nd place in the 200 dash, with a time of 30.72.
  • Denzel Harris took 8th place in the Youth Boys 55 dash, with a time of 7.36. Denzel also took 2nd place in the 400 dash, with a time of 55.84. Denzel also took 3rd place in the 200 dash, with a time of 25,43.
  • Eddie Codrington won the Youth Boys 800 run, with a time of 2:15.25. Eddie also won the 1500 run, with a time of 4:38.93.
  • Austin Boynton took 2nd place in the Intermediate Boys 800 run, with a time of 2:04.62. Austin also took 3rd place in the 1500 run, with a time of 4:25.55.

Great Lakes Indoor Championship in Geneva, OH, Sat-Sun, 2/13-14, 2010 Results

  • Alexa Spaanstra won the Bantam Girls 200 dash, with a time of 29.00. Alexa also won the 400 dash, with  a time of 1:04.43. Alexa also won the 800 run, with a time of 2:40.81.
  • Cathy Dager took 3rd place in the Sub-Midget Girls 200 dash, with a time of 30.66. Cathy also took 3rd in the 400 dash, with a time of 1:12.43. Cathy also won the long-jump, with a jump of 13 ' 4".
  • Grace Gardner took 4th place in the Intermediate Girls 55 dash, with a time of 7.90. Grace also took 6th place in the 200 dash, with a time of 28.72.
  • Dylan Harris won the Sub-Bantam Boys 200 dash, with a time of 29.89. Dylan also won the 400 dash, with a time of 1:10.05. Dylan also won the long-jump, with a  jump of 12' 11.25 ".
  • Xavier Hill took 2nd place in the Sub-Midget Boys 200 dash, with a time of 31.08. Xavier also won the 400 dash, with a time 1:07.14. Xavier also won the 800 run, with a time of 2:36.81.
  • Julian Harris won the Midget Boys 200 dash, with a time of 29.04. Julian also won the 400 dash, with a time of 1:03.66. Julian also took 2nd place in the long-jump, with a jump of 13' 9 ".
  • Denzel Harris took 4th place in the Youth Boys 55 dash, with a time of 7.29. Denzel also took 5th in the 200 dash, with a time of 25.47. Denzel also took 3rd place in the 400 dash, with a time 56.26.
  • Eddie Codrington took 3rd place in the Youth Boys 800 run, with a time of 2:11.90. Eddie also won the 1500 run, with a time of 4:43.83.
  • Austin Boynton won the Intemediate Boys 800 run, with a time of 2:06.56. Austin also won the 1500 run, with a time of 4:27.49.
